SAMPLE ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrive in Delhi
Upon your arrival in Delhi, you’ll be greeted by a member of our team and chauffeured to the Lodhi for a luxurious two-night stay. Lodhi is arguably the finest hotel in New Delhi, starting your journey off pampered and well rested is key. It’s nestled in a busy but green area of the capital, close to the ravishing and picturesque Lodhi Gardens.
The atmosphere is cool and hushed, the décor sleek and minimal yet refined. The rooms are extravagant and come with their own private plunge pool. Transcending you to a place of serenity preparing you for the transformation to come.
Day 2: Fly to Leh
With an early start you’ll fly out to Leh, Ladakh. On landing, you’ll be chauffeured in style to the Chamba Camp, Thiksey to check-in for a three-night stay.
At your convenience, a member of the camp will fine-tune your itinerary and excursions with you to complement your tastes and interests. Your meals will be prepared with care, designed to give you energy with an elegance you’re sure to appreciate.
Our chef and his team will delight your senses with inspired local cuisine delights bursting with flavor paired with the finest of traditional drinks.
Overnight at Chamba Camp, Thiksey
Day 3: Sunrise Yoga & Explore the Old City
Greet the day with a sunrise yoga session that is suitable for all levels of practitioners! Incorporating meditation techniques such as Yoga Nidra, breath & chakra meditations and chanting. You will feel relaxed, refreshed and recharged for the day.
In the afternoon, proceed on a guided heritage tour around Leh. You’ll visit landmarks such as the 17th century Leh Palace, and the Ladakh Arts and Media Organisation Centre. After special Ladakhi tea, continue through the old city and bazaar on foot, ending with a spectacular view from Shanti Stupa to watch the sunset.
Day 4: Discover Thiksey Monastery
Rise early to explore the stunning Thiksey monastery that houses an impressive statue of the Maitreya Buddha, seated on a lotus and boasts a mesmerizing view of the valley. You’ll have the privilege of participating in the sunrise prayers. A sacred ceremony not many are allowed to participate in. It will uplift you and bring you a sense of belonging.
Later today, visit the 11th century Alchi monastery and 16th-century Basgo Fort, which bears horrific evidence of the invasion of the Mongols. End the day on a high with a relaxing evening yoga session to bring balance to your mind and body.
Day 5: Continue to Diskit
Kick-start your day with a yoga, Pranayam and meditation session. Go on a scenic drive through dramatic landscapes over the Khardung La Pass (considered the highest motorable road in the world) and the famous Nubra sand dunes. Your destination is the Chamba Camp in Diskit.
After having settled in, visit the Lamdon Charitable School. Housing 150 students from as far away as the Nubra frontier, meet and hear stories of these little children. Their laughter and smiling faces will surely make your heart swell with joy.
Day 6: Explore Nubra-Diksit Gompa
Early this morning you’ll explore the Diksit Gompa, perched on a hill in the village, it’s considered to be the oldest and largest Buddhist monastery in the Nubra valley. Surround yourself with the sounds of an operational monastery and explore all it has to offer you.
In the afternoon, embark on an exhilarating ride over the dunes on the native double hump Bactrian camel. A truly a once in a lifetime experience. Or continue into the evening with a visit to the admirable Chamba House. An old heritage home which used to belong to a Silk Route era trader.
Day 7: Return to Leh
Today learn Internal Body Cleansing Yoga Kriyas that will help to detoxify and purify your body, including the eyes (Trathak), nostrils (Jala Neti), intestines (Agnisaar Kriya), stomach (Kunjal Kriya) and the colon (Laghoo Shankhaprakshalana). Your teachers will guide you through these ancient techniques.
If you’re feeling active we’d recommend cycling over to the Yak Breeding Centre and Fishery. A vital center to Nubra, ensuring a continuous supply of animal husbandry. In the afternoon, return to the Thiksey camp in Leh to kick off a pampered two-night stay.
Day 8: At Leisure in Leh-Pangong Lake
Relax! Enjoy the camp, and explore the local area at your own pace.
Alternately, embark on an optional excursion to Pangong Lake – a popular location for many Bollywood films – to take in stunning lake views amidst a backdrop of the Himalayas.
Day 9: Fly Back to Delhi
This morning you’ll be chauffeured back to Leh airport to board your return flight to Delhi. Upon landing in Delhi, a member of our team will accompany you to back to the Lodhi for the last night stay.
Enjoy your private plunge pool this afternoon, or embark on some gentle sightseeing with a guided walk around the Lodhi gardens. Some may wish to transfer to the airport for their international departure.
